Exercising everywhere

Exercise Everywhere

Who out there wants to exercise more but can’t seem to get motivated?  I HEAR YOU! Who wants to get in shape but can’t seem to find the time. You are NOT alone.  Finding the right motivation to get going with your exercise program is not easy.  With so many competing priorities and responsibilities, it is easy to lose steam or not even get started with a meaningful fitness routine.  This is compounded by the fact that we ARE so busy.

Just like you, I work hard, travel for my job, manage house chores, and of course most of my attention goes to spending time with and caring for my family. But I still get four hours a day of exercise. Yes, maybe that’s crazy, but it’s not that hard.  How? Because I treat exercise like a bank account.  Every time I withdraw wasted time, I can use that as currency for exercise and deposit back into my account a WHOLE lot of calories burned, a better mental outlook, and a healthier body. And little by little, throughout the day, it all adds up.  It doesn’t have to be four hours, but it’s easier than you think! Take a look at this page for some helpful suggestions and tips. Then contact me so we can set up a specialized program tailored just for you. We will start by doing a comprehensive analysis of your daily schedule, and together we will find ways to best optimize your precious time so you can exercise more and meet these fitness goals!

For example: who out there drives to work? It’s okay if you do. I have had to do so at various times in my life. But if biking or running are options, you are killing two birds with one stone!  No, this is not a new concept.  Yet, most people don’t do it for one reason or another. Challenge yourself. Not only will you reduce your carbon footprint, but you likely won’t end up having to use the elliptical at the gym as much, and in many cases (mostly because of terrible traffic), you could even SAVE time. I LOVE biking to the same event as my colleagues and arriving there before them.  When I pass them by on the road, while they are stuck behind other cars, they look out at me (some smile, some probably hope I fall off), but it’s a GOOD feeling.

The overarching concept for this website is looking for exercise opportunities in ANY situation. I am not out there looking for attention (though yes, I sometimes get some curious stares in some situations). I am just being me—striving to stay healthy and looking to eat whatever I like. This means being efficient throughout my day and finding ways to carve out exercise that adds up in amazing ways.  And you can do it TOO! In fact, I want to help you plan your day (and life) more efficiently and ways to exercise at work, waiting at the bank, cooking, traveling, and more. You will find you have more time, do more exercise, and feel more balanced overall. Contact me, and we can plan a program for you together.

Still Not Convinced?

Too gimmicky for you?  This is real.  This is a lifestyle choice, and ANYONE can sign up. What stops so many of us from taking that FIRST step is doubt or fear.  We trap ourselves with negative thinking. “It’s too hard”.  “I will do it later”. “I don’t want to get too sweaty.” “People will look at me strangely”.  I have heard it all. And I have said it all.  But imagine replacing those same self-defeating words with positive mantras: “I will feel so much better after I exercise.” “I am proud of myself for the accomplishment and feel better about my health and body.” “I love being more efficient in my time—it frees up space in my day to do other things that I love.” Try saying that to yourself, try believing it.

So HOW? Let me share with you just a few examples of what I mean by treating exercise and wasted time like a bank account.

Waiting …for Anything

Consider you are out to dinner, and your friends are late.  I bet there’s not a soul out there that doesn’t know what I am talking about (or hasn’t been the one that’s late!) What if, instead of looking at social media or sitting on a bench waiting for your friend, you do some easy squats or get ten sets of your resistance cords (which you brought with you because you are on this new life track to SEIZE any opportunity for exercise).  You might get 10-15 minutes of exercise without really trying. And no, you don’t have to go so hard you get sweaty (though if you do, and for anyone that has read by book, a simple hygiene kit and a few minutes in the bathroom can get you cleaned right up!

This same concept can be applied almost ANYWHERE. What about waiting 20 minutes for the movie to start (previews are so looonnnggg!)? What about using that to do seated stomach exercises. Or what about waiting in line at the store? That’s a great time to do more squats. I might even find myself using the 2-gallon milk cartons in my basket to do arm curls. Is that obsession when it means you just knocked about another 10 minutes of exercise without going anywhere special or setting aside time in the day for it?

What’s exciting about this concept, and I will say it again and again is that ANY wasted time can easily be converted into exercise opportunities. What about those 10 minutes waiting for an Uber or waiting for your laundry to be done in the dryer or waiting for those delicious brownies to be done? Why not do some jogging in place or knee taps? And these aren’t just theoretical “tricks”—I have done these things in all of these actual situations—many times.

What Does this all Mean?

Whether you are waiting for your friend to finish sightseeing in a museum…whether you are at the beach and need a break from soaking in the side…whether you are riding as a passenger in a car and not really accomplishing anything—you can find ways to exercise.  I WANT to hear from you.  Your ideas! Your questions!  Please leave your thoughts and comments on the blog page. First, take just a few moments and look through some of these videos and pictures below of exercise that can be done in some of the most random places (you won’t believe how easy it is for this to become a lifestyle choice!). Get ready to be transformed (and maybe a little entertained). 😊 Then contact me, and we can build a special program just for you!
