how to exercise at home

Exercising at home is something we are doing more and more of especially during the COVID pandemic. Whether you are teleworking or find yourself in a situation where local gyms are closed or you just prefer to work out at home, there are endless ways to stay fit without a lot of fancy equipment.

Check out my YouTube channel where I demonstrate how you can do both cardio as well as anaerobic activity to keep your heart (and upper body) strong.

Make Your Home a Gym

While running in place or doing boxing exercises may not be as exciting as going for a nice mountain run, these activities still burn calories and give you the freedom (and privacy) to create workout programs designed for your fitness level and interests.

Quick morning exercises to start the workday

Turn your home into your gym. Whether you are teleworking or watching the kids or simply don’t have access to a gym, your home has it all. Whether it’s running laps up and down the stairs or setting push-up goals, you can get a great workout with just a little creativity and effort.

Working out at home with household items

Exercising at home doesn’t require fancy gym equipment. If you have dumbbell weights or resistance cords, you can do literally dozens of different exercises to work virtually every muscle group from biceps curls to shoulder presses to back exercises that will leave you toned and ready to earn that ice cream.

Exercise tips while you telework and social distance

Don’t forget that cardio is simply moving the body to get your heart rate up. It’s amazing how many calories you can burn by running in place during that online virtual training seminar or doing boxing moves while it’s raining outside or doing a variety of sit-ups and crunchies before bed- your home is your gym!

Working out at home with household products

Or, if you don’t have special gym equipment, you can use items you already have around your house like a chair to do triceps dips. Or you can use water bottles, big or small, as weights to bench press or to build up those shoulders. You can even fill a backpack with some heavy items! Have some fun with it!

how to workout in a quarantine

Once when I was stuck at a hotel in quarantine for three weeks (and literally could not leave my room), I found creative ways to stay fit and even did several 30 and 35-kilometer runs on my balcony!

There are plenty of great tips and videos out there to provide insight on exercising at home. Find what works for you and don’t ever let the lack of a gym or equipment stop you from reaching your fitness goals.
