Even on a small balcony, I was able to do 35K runs several days a week and countless pushups, squats, triceps dips, sit-ups, and tons of upper body exercises with my resistance cords. You don’t need a gym-and you don’t have to complete a workout in one sitting!

Spending a month in quarantine was a humbling yet interesting experience. Unlock my normal daily life, I suddenly found myself with too much time (and too much good food–the hotel had a great chef). Knowing how important it was for me to eat all that decadent ice cream (I mean exercise), I had to find creative ways to stay fit. So, I used all the techniques that I have been practicing and teaching others about including: I don’t have to complete my exercise all at once. I broke up it throughout the day to keep it interesting. I used music and even tv to keep me distracted and motivated. I combined both cardio with strength training exercises. I never thought I’d do 35 kilometer runs on my balcony, but I did–and it was a great feeling of accomplishment. This experience was truly about turning something challenging and finding opportunities to be healthy and maintain my fitness goals. In any situation, it just takes a little creativity and self motivation to stay fit, stay balanced, and keep both the mind and body focused.
